Filming schedule

I have created a filming schedule based on locations I need to film, each number represents the shot number I will be filming on that day.

Target Audience

My target audience is mainly Females, with the age range being between 16 and 19 belonging to the social class group E. The majority of my audience will be either college or University students therefore meaning they are earning little money with probably a part time job, but aspire to gain a better paid permanent job as a result of their education. My audience are intelligent and will be open to a wide variety of music with other interests including fashion and art. My target audience are always checking their Twitter, Facebook and other social network accounts to keep up with their favorite artists and new music. The majority of my target audience watch most of their music videos through media such as You tube and music channels. They are up to date with current music and download music every week, usually illegally, to keep their play lists up to date. My audience like to party and have fun as well as balancing their studies.

Give Me Love

The song that I have chosen to use for my music video is Ed Sheeran's song 'Give Me Love'. The song was released as the sixth and final single from his debut studio album '+' on 21 November 2012. The song was written by Ed Sheeran himself, Jake Gosling and Chris Leonard. The music video which accompanied this song was first released onto YouTube on the 9th November 2012. The video stars Australian actress Isabel Lucas who plays Cupid. The video follows the idea of Cupid. Cupid is seen watching over couples, she is then seen using her bow and arrows to ignite people's passion for each other. So after watching many human intimate displays through her work, Cupid becomes overwhelmed with the need to find someone of her own to love and for them to love her in return. She tries to remove her wings, pulling a feather from her back and toys with one of her arrows. The end of the video echoes the beginning, a cop (Christian Kinde) is seen going into a crime scene which turns out to be Cupid's lair. It is revealed that she stabbed herself with her own arrow and is seemingly dead. However, her arrows are not lethal, they just make you fall in love, so when the cop leans in for a closer look, the love effect of the arrow makes her wake up, and it is implied that she will fall in love with him since he's the first person she sees upon waking.

Ancillary text research

This is the single cover for the song I have chosen for my coursework (Ed Sheeran- Give me love). I like the fact that the artist is not on the cover and the actor in the music video is on it instead. This is a good idea and is one that I will use when thinking about creating my own single cover because the artist of the song does not appear in my music video, it is just actors therefore it will look effective if use this technique, as it links the music video with the album cover. I also like the fact that you can not see the face of the actor, and their back is to the audience, i find it very effective and will consider using this design when creating my own cover.

Test Shots

Here are some test shots that I did as practice for my music video. The song I have chosen will be played over the top of the clips therefore there will be no sound coming from the clips. In this practice shoot I have not used the costumes or props I will be using in my final piece, this shoot was more for practicing the angles of shots such as the over the shoulder shot.

Blog Poll Results

Here are the results from my online blog poll.
When asked how they watch music videos, the highest scoring was 'through youtube'.
When asked if they prefer a music video to be abstract or to tell a story, the highest scoring was 'tell a story'.
When asked what genre of music they prefer, the highest scoring was 'indie'.
When asked what gender they are, the highest scoring was 'female'.
When asked what age range they fit into, the highest scoring was '15-18'.

I will take this audience feedback into consideration when creating my final product and thinking about my target audience.

Ancillary text ideas

One of my chosen Ancillary texts is to create an album cover for the artist and song I have chosen for my music video. I have researched existing album covers and have found a style of cover that I like. The main image is in black and white, however one colour is used to make it stand out, I think this contrast looks really effective and will consider this when planning to create my own album cover.

Anamatic

I have put my storyboard images together to create an anamatic of how my music video will look.
