Research

As my music video deals with the serious issue of teenage suicide I felt that I should research and find out more about the causes, issues and statistics. I have to take into consideration that the issues that arise in my music video are real issues and is a sensitive subject to some people, therefore I needed to make sure my video was not too upsetting or graphic and appropriate for my target audience. To do this I felt I needed to know more about the issue before putting it into my music video, therefore this research was really helpful.
After editing today I have decided that there is a sequence in my music video that I am not sure about, therefore I am going to show numerous students (who fit with my target audience) a clip of the sequence, and ask for their audience feedback, to decide whether to keep or change the sequence.

Editing

Today I am on the editing suites editing the footage I filmed on Sunday. I am doing all my editing on the software 'Adobe Premier Pro' as i feel it is the easiest and best software to use, as well as it being the easiest for me to have access to.

Filming day 2

Today I am filming on location, it is 7 am and we have just set up ready to start filming the end sequence to my music video. The location we are at is called 'Little Switzerland' on the outskirts of Hull, it is the perfect location for this scene in my music video.

Friday 13 December 2013

I am planning on filming on location on Sunday therefore before I go I have made sure I have done a risk assessment to prevent, as best as possible, any harm/damage that could be inflicted on any crew member or equipment.
Here is a list of props and equipment I will need to take with me on location on Sunday:
-Camera (With SD card)
-Tripod
-Bag
-Vodka bottle (filled with water)
-IPhone (in case of emergency as well as prop)
- Ipod (to play the song for timings)
-Costume 1
-Fake blood

Risk Assesment

Potential hazard
Who is at risk?
Steps taken to avoid hazard
Injury severity?
solution
Dim lighting- tripping/falling

Camera man and actor(s)
Make sure the area is clear before filming, and turn the lights back when not filming.
High-i.e. bump to the head
Mild- i.e. Bruises
Make sure all actors/crew members are aware of any props/equipment that may be in places of danger that can be easily tripped over if not careful.
Injury on location- tripping/falling over branches or uneven ground.

Whole team
Watch footing at all times and before filming make sure the area is cleared as much as possible of any dangers.
High- i.e. broken limbs, twisted ankle.
Mild- i.e. bruises and cuts.
Before filming all crew members should take note of the surroundings and of any potential hazards that cannot be removed from the area.
Fire hazard

Whole team
Take extra caution when dealing with any possible fire hazards- e.g. lighting (overheat)
High
Inform the whole team on where the nearest fire exits are, and decide on a location to meet if a fire was to break out.
Camera/tripod falling

Actor(s)
Make sure the camera is securely fitted to the tripod and it is placed on even flat ground securely.
mild
Make sure actor(s)are aware of where the camera is, to avoid them tripping or falling over it.
Traveling to and from location- dangers

Whole team
Make sure someone outside of the production team knows where everyone is going and how long you are expected to be.
High- i.e. crash when traveling/ run over
Low-i.e. getting lost/stranded
Give out important emergency contact numbers, and make sure the route to location is clearly planned before setting off to prevent getting lost on the way.

Media Theorists

Here is a Prezi I have made of media theorists that I have been researching which really link with the project I am currently working on. Researching theorists has benefited me in the way that I now know a lot more depth about the theory behind my current project.

Filming day one

Here is the set up of the setting of my first scene, the idea of the setting was that it is in a house on an evening. To create this setting I have filmed on location in an actual house. In relation to the lighting it had to be dim because in the narrative this clip is filmed in the evening, also the dim lighting reflects the relationship between the two characters in the scene. However, as seen in the image above, I added two purple/pink coloured lights out of shot of the camera to give the room a pink/purple glow, I used this lighting to connote the hidden love the girl as for her mother, however when the girl realises the mother does not feel the same the lighting changes and the pink light fades. The props I needed for this scene are on the table, as shown on the picture.

Here is an image of me whilst I am filming a scene of my music video, as you can see I used a tripod to steady the camera, as in this scene there is only still shots, not tracking shots.

Costume 1

For the first scene in my music video the main character has just got back home from school, therefore to create verisimilitude and realism I dressed my actress in a school uniform, with a blazer and tie.
